Faithful till the end

Faithfulness is greatly needed in our relationships. Jesus Christ was faithful till the end. He calls us to do same. It is an integral part of His divine nature and one deeply engrained in His personality. He is always faithful because it is His nature, it is He alone that can help us have this wonderful character trait. God is the One who endows mankind with this priceless character quality. His Holy Spirit builds it in us as we walk with Him

Psalm 89:8 O Lord God of hosts, who is a strong Lord like unto thee? or to thy faithfulness round about thee?

Psalm 119:90 Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth.

1 Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

2 Timothy 2:13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

Psalm 89:23-24 And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him. [24] But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted.

Numbers 12:6-7 And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the Lord will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream. [7] My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house.

Faithfulness is a character element that is exhibited or otherwise in our interactions with God, people, environment and responsibilities. The litmus test of our faithfulness shown in little and big things. especially when we are not seen. It has significant impact on those around us. A student, husband or wife being sexually harassed at school or at the work place. How they respond will have consequences not only for them but those around them. The Pastor at church, the doctor or health personnel, police officers meant to enforce law and order, the politicians voted in to facilitate change, the seller in the market place, the baggage handler at the airport….

The world today is facing a shortage of faithful men and women. The world is in dire need of those who can be trusted, who are constant and trustworthy, people who will stand committed to whatever they have been called to do. Those are resilient and cannot be swayed or bought. People who are tenacious, who cannot be bought. Men and women you can leave matters to and go to bed with worrying if they will do what they said they will do.

Psalm 12:1-2 Help, Lord ; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men. [2] They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.

Those whose words or testimonies cannot be taken for a pinch of salt abound, so do those who you cannot rely to do what they have consented to. Chaos has become a sort on new order in many places. We thank God for faithful men and women. God is proud of His faithful children, He shows them off.

Job 1:8 And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

Job 2:3-6 And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause. [4] And Satan answered the Lord, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life. [5] But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face. [6] And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life

Jesus Christ came to display this character trait in the physical, He was sent by His Father to bring deliverance to a world that was spiritually compromised, a world riddled with sin, a sordid state facilitated by the initial sin committed by Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden

Proverbs 25:13 As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.

He abided faith till the end despite the severe pain and humiliation He faced. He took it all in silence like a sheep led to the slaughter because of His faithfulness to pay the price that will ensure salvation for a world headed for spiritual destruction. He is the King whose throne is established for ever. He stood for all especially the rejects of society. He was there for Matthew and Zacchaeus, the lady that was caught in adultery who was about to be stoned ( John 8:1-7), the blind and hopeless (Matthew 20:30-34), the lepers (Luke 17:13-16). He has called all who believe in Him to walk with Him and serve faithfully just as He demanded of His disciples

Matthew 10:7-8 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. [8] Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

Faithfulness of Jesus Christ

This is the reason is why His name is the most powerful name that can be mentioned on earth. You will be in serious trouble if you dare mention the name, Jesus Christ, in certain places because those in such places know the consequences for them due to their satanic allegiance. It is not a name to be messed around with. The Father bestowed a special honour on His Son’s name.

Philippians 2:6-11 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: [7] But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: [8] And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. [9] Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: [10] That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; [11] And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Jesus stood faithfully in humility until the end. He was aware that only His innocence and righteousness could justify the sinner, that only His purity could stand in for our sinfulness. Our saviour was not oblivious of the fact that only His blood could make provision for washing away the sins of anyone who believed. His undying love for the Father and us made Him take all the abuse and torture in silence

1 Thessalonians 5:24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

Hebrews 2:17-18 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. [18] For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

This is why demons tremble and the shackles of those the enemy had held bound are broken and they receive freedom. It the reason why the sick can be prayed for and they receive healing and situations people said was impossible receives solution. We are exalted to have this same mindset as Christ(Philippians 2:5 ) Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. Jesus Christ stood faithful until the end.

Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Paul commanded Timothy to commit what he had been taught to faithful men.

2 Timothy 2:1-4 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. [2] And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. [3] Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. [4] No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

Faithful servants

Apostle commanded faithful servants of God to be held in esteem. We should commend and appreciate those who serve faithfully, it should not just be seen as just doing their job. Faithful friends, leaders, spouses.. should be commended. God honours those who stand faithful until the end. Elisha was rewarded with a double portion of Elijah’s anointing because he was faithful until the end.

Despite his master prevailing on him to wait while he went to Bethel. He knew that was not an option, he sacrificed his oxen and gave up his farming business for this. He was going to stay faithful to ministering to his master no matter what it took.

2 Kings 2:2-4,6,8-14 And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the Lord hath sent me to Beth-el. And Elisha said unto him, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Beth-el. [3] And the sons of the prophets that were at Beth-el came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Lord will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he said, Yea, I know it ; hold ye your peace. [4] And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for the Lord hath sent me to Jericho. And he said, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho. [6] And Elijah said unto him, Tarry, I pray thee, here; for the Lord hath sent me to Jordan. And he said, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And they two went on. [8] And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground. [9] And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me. [10] And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so. [11] And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. [12] And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces. [13] He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan; [14] And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the Lord God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.

We all need to be stirred awake in this area because we have failed to be faithful at some point. Are you faithful? Can you be counted on? If your answer is no, that can change if you are ready to walk in faithfulness by emulating Jesus Christ who was ready to go through the terrible experience of crucifixion to give spiritual life to those who accept Him as their Lord and Saviour. The power from the finished work on the cross and His resurrection can change things, He can make you become a faithful follower and disciple. Are you ready for that change that will enable to become faithful no matter the cost? It is possible if you are ready and willing
